A Well-Spent Day!

I've been having hectic days as I'm working 9 to 10 hours everyday. However, unlike usual days, yesterday was a different one. I decided not to work. And co-incidentally one of my school friends had taken a leave for a couple of days and appeared at my workplace just at the right moment. I shut the office door and went out with him for a walk.

The break from my work was not for no reason. It was Lhabab Duechen, an auspicious occasion according to the Mahayana Buddhist believe. At the same time, it was a time for celebration at Boudhanath Stupa which was going under renovation. SROG SHING was being erected in the stupa for which many revered Buddhist masters were invited to conduct the ritual.

May be I'm absent minded too often. So, forgot to capture picture during the ceremony. I and my friend just observed the crowd for a while and went on for a walk. We decided to visit few monasteries that were a bit away from the city crowd.

Srongtsen Bhrikuti Boarding High School

On the way to our destination, we took a glance at our school which was badly cracked by the devastating earthquake. I felt a bit nostalgic to stand outside the place where I had studied and played at my childhood, and I guess my friend felt the same way. By the way, 'Free Dental Clinic Week for Public' was going on there.

As I was feeling a little hungry, we stopped by and had some tea and cookies at a cafe on the way to Kapan. After several minutes of uphill walk, we reached Kopan Monastery. The monastery wasn't open for public. However, the monastery  nearby was holding the enthronement ceremony of 9th Kyabgon Jedrungpa. We went there and observed the crowd of devotees there and spent nearly half an hour resting. Then we got up and walked again.

Boudhanath Stupa
Walking through the narrow lanes and a thin forest, we reached the next monastery at Pullahari. This monastery has a small restaurant there. After clicking some pictures of the monastery and its beautiful surrounding area, we had ginger with honey to drink and fried noodles to eat at the restaurant. We spent more than a half an hour of time there. Finally, we got back to Boudha. We took a rest for a while at my office. Then we got out again. I took a snap of the Boudhanath Stupa and we both went to a cafe nearby and had some coffee.

Unlike other days, I didn't feel tired or fatigued. Otherwise after walking for a couple of hours and eating fast food, I would get headache at evening. May be this days was an extraordinary one. I was totally fine.

Well, that's how I spent the day. Will write again next time if I get time like today. I am at my workplace but there's no client/customer till now. So, I'm getting absolutely free time to write this post. :)

Thanks for stopping by!
